With Yahoo Messenger’s upcoming Beta release for Vista, it is obvious that it is now headed into the free, PC-to-PC calling realm

Of course there will be paid calling options as well, but one of the most interesting part of this integration, at least visually, will likely be the WPF 3D integration, which takes full advantage of all the Vista-ness that has been made available.

Although the visual effects that will play on your computer while you talk to someone does not appear to be of any use, it maybe interesting to some people as it may be a relief for boredom .

The world of Internet chat has gone through so many innovative changes from the time it begun in the late 90’s. Many chat rooms are now voice and video capable. At the same time interactive sites like Second Life allow chatter to move around using their very own avatars.
This world has taken another step forward with voice changer software. Now people can actually disguise their voices by using specially design software that is freely downloadable over the Internet.
This is particularly popular in interactive sites where people are allowed to create their very own Internet persona. Although this is meant to create more interest, it is also potentially dangerous when abused.

Wincom 2 is a program used for sending secure messages through the web with another user. It was released just yesterday, October 06, 2008, so it is definitely a latest. It encrypts your message to make it more secure but it requires you to input the other user’s IP address. To use this program, you just have to connect to a secure host and you may now start typing. This program is one of those “security first” because it just have a simple design, but really, security should always be prioritized. This program is not licensed so it is free, but it only works in Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003 Server. It doesn’t work on Windows Vista, but I think many of us still use these previous versions of XP because Windows Vista is pretty expensive. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that there were 4 previous versions of Winom 2.

Another feature that is to watch out for is the SMS integration, a feature that allows one to send text messages from Yahoo Messenger on Vista to your friend’s mobile phone for FREE. The good thing about this option is that the end receiver doesn’t have to rely on a mobile instant messaging option on their phone in order to chat. There are some IM clients already employing services like text messaging, so this isn’t an entirely a new concept but this will become be proved to be a good service in the long run. Also integrated in the next Beta release for Vista are Mail alerts.

There are some features that are missing from Yahoo Messenger’s initial Vista release, so it’s would be good to know that some of these expected features will be made available in its future future updates. The release of Yahoo Messenger Beta for Vista is yet to be announced.
