AdiumIn fairness to the few Mac users out there, we have Adium a multi-IM platform that supports the Mac. As we all know, the Mac has managed to keep it’s fair share of the PC ruled world and they have this nifty tool that does support some of the most popular IM platforms such as AOL, ICQ, .Mac, Jabber, GoogleTalk, LiveJournal, MSN Messenger, Bonjour, iChat, Gadu-Gadu and Lotus Samtime with only one notable exception ICQ. They start off with a nifty and smart looking funny duck for an icon but unknowingly, install was so quick, it was almost instant. Getting into the system was a breeze with a short signup and signin processs and you’re on your way. The interface is straight forward and can even be familiar, with a very pleasant tune that indicates log in or leaving the chat room. The program is available for download for free on many sites on the internet and once you get it up and running, you are sure to be advised to install the Growl program which handles notifications, and did we mention the program was free.
You do get to help the guys who developed it out through donations yet they give it out for all to use. You get multiple tabs at the bottom part of the screen for multiple conversations and it makes the interface a bit more tamed rather than the several dizzying windows for each and every user in other chat software. It’s free, it’s for the Mac and good for them for they are out there for sure.
